Learn how to create illustrative pastel paintings by using abstract thinking! Aline will masterfully teach you a new way of SEEING. Instead of painting what you think you see, you will break down everything you are perceiving into abstract shapes. For example, instead of painting a preconceived notion of a house, you will be able to discern its series of interlocking shapes.
Aline is also known for her vivid paintings and creative use of color. Using principles of color and design, she will teach you how to transform your own photo references into dynamic pastel paintings. Along with daily painting demonstrations, Aline will emphasize understanding color in terms of temperature, intensity and value using pastel techniques. Likewise, instead of painting grass green, she will encourage you to experiment, expanding your color sensitivity and awareness. No more overworked, tight pastels! You will create loose, bold illustrative paintings as Aline gives personal attention, helping you to develop your individual style.
Having received a BFA from Cornell University in graphics and a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in illustration, Aline went on to teach for 30 years, both nationally and internationally.
