Enjoy opportunities for new spontaneity as you learn Jonathan’s exciting collage technique that eliminates liquid adhesives from the collage-making process. Jonathan will cover a variety of enticing, much needed subjects including; the "paperless" transfer of printed and photocopied images, tissue overlays, the permanency of materials, getting past artistic blocks, developing a personal style, attaching 3-D objects, preparation of substrates, sources for tools and materials, presentation and framing of finished works, charting your creative course, and more.
Jonathan says, “The only prerequisites for this workshop are initiative and imagination." The workshops he leads are about process. Participants learn how the new techniques he has developed can be applied to their work, the creation of a personal visual vocabulary, and nurturing rather than controlling the creative process. New skills and insights will enable each artist-participant to move her or his work forward in their own unique journey.
Close to a hundred of Jonathan’s works have been exhibited around the world, including The National Academy and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and in international exhibitions sponsored by the State Department and the Smithsonian Institution, and museum collections in U.S. and Europe. His works include oils, watercolors, etchings, collages, and multi-dimensional collage-constructions. He has authored 5 books and his works have been included in over 25 publications, including The Artist’s Magazine.
“If you celebrate both your own skill and the skills of others, then your life will be an authentic part of the world-wide do-it-ourselves project called civilization.”
